Leadership

Throughout all of God’s dealings with humanity, dating back to Eden itself, leaders were established as a means of providing peace, care, guidance, and determination to stay on the course set for us by our Ultimate Leader, God himself. For this reason, leaders are always first and foremost followers.

To be given the role of leader in Christ’s church is a profound privilege, a heavy responsibility, a humbling calling, and a deep joy.

Hebrews 13:17 brings the weight and splendor of the gospel to bear on how leaders lead and how the church follows, “Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.”

It is the desire and determination of the leaders of Mission Church to do all that is required and necessary according to the Word of God “until Christ is formed in you” (Gal 4:19). And by his grace, we will do so.

Jesus

Does it really need to be written on the website that Jesus is our Senior Pastor?  

We believe it does.

This is a very real and wonderful conviction: that Jesus is the legitimate, actual, functional, and good Shepherd of His Church.  God the Father gave Jesus as head to the church for the accomplishment of His great Mission to redeem the lost to His glory (Eph 1:22-23) because without Jesus we are a wandering army with no General, a lost people with no King.  

No other place in Scripture makes this as clear as Psalm 23.  It starts with the declaration, "The LORD is my shepherd..."  And what glorious leadership!  He gives us provision of all we need, protection from all that would otherwise harm us, and purpose in life and eternity.
